ROSS County hit back to earn a 1-1 draw against bottom side Dundee in the Clydesdale Bank SPL on Saturday.

The Staggies made two changes to the side which went down 2-1 to Inverness CT in the William Hill Scottish Cup replay.

Grant Munro replaced the injured Mihael Kovacevic, while Alex Cooper made his second SPL start, replacing Rocco Quinn.

The visitors looked nippy in the opening minutes, but County soon settled into the game, with Iain Vigurs and Richard Brittain at the heart of the forward moves.

Mark Fotheringham sliced an effort past Rab Douglas's post on 15 minutes after Cooper broke down the left and Vigurs lined the chance up.

In the next attack, a cross from the left just skipped away from Dundee's Nicky Riley as the visitors sought the opener.

The Staggies were soon back in the attack and Cooper's shot was deflected wide after he was teed up by Colin McMenamin.

The breakthrough in a largely disappointing first half came on 37 minutes for the basement side.

Jim McAlister robbed Brittain of possession to send Dundee forward and, after a few clearances, Iain Davidson crashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net, leaving keeper Mark Brown rooted to the spot.

It could have been 2-0 on 40 minutes, but Riley lashed his drive into the side-netting.

County came close to levelling before the interval when Ross Tokely met a corner from Vigurs, but the defender's header deflected over the bar.

Passes were going astray in the final moments of the first half by the Dingwall side, leaving boss Derek Adams irritated on the touchline.

County came flying out of the traps at the start of the second half and Cooper saw his cross head goalwards only to be tipped over the top by Rab Douglas.

Vigurs went close in the next drive forward with a similar effort, but this time the ball flashed wide of goal.

With the rain lashing down with 20 minutes to go, Tokely steered a header just past the post after the ball was whipped into the box by Stuart Kettlewell.

The pressure paid off for the hosts on 74 minutes when Brittain's effort was blocked and it fell to sub Gary Glen who smashed the ball high into the net to make it 1-1.

County pressed for the winner, but the Taysiders held on to take a share of the spoils. The best chance was a stoppage time shot off the post by Brittain.

It's now no wins in eight for the Dingwall team but they vitally didn't lost this one. Next up is Celtic away on Saturday.
