Caley Thistle's Ryan Christie has been called up for Scotland's under-21s.

RYAN Christie’s sparkling performances for Caley Thistle has shot him into Scotland’s under-21 squad.

The 19-year-old was named by boss Billy Stark as one of four forwards selected for the youngsters’ Under-21 European Championship qualifiers away to Slovakia and Luxembourg on September 4 and 8 respectively.

The other strikers picked are Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth), Stevie May (Sheffield Wednesday) and Sam Nicholson (Heart of Midlothian).

Christie has been a star man for the Caley Jags, whose 1-0 win over champions Celtic on Saturday kept them top of the Scottish Premiership.

Christie, who scored in the season’s opening 2-0 win at Hamilton, has started all four games as ICT have left their rivals trailing.

The Highlanders will be looking to build on their terrific start, which has seen them rack our four clean sheets, when they host in-form Kilmarnock on Saturday.
