CALEY Thistle fans won’t be starved of football this weekend – they can get out and see some of the club’s legends pull on the boots again.

After two call-offs due to the weather, this fascinating Fans v Legends fixtures will take place this Sunday at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium at 1.30pm. Entry is free, although donations will be welcomed.

It’s being held to raise funds and awareness for Caley Jags Together (CJT), the ICT supporters organisation, so that it can support football at every level in Inverness, from street league to the SPL.

The legends squad (so far) is – Charlie Christie, Barry Wilson, Jim Calder, Stuart Golabek, Alan Hercher, Danny Macdonald, Scott Kellacher, Colin Mitchell, Mike Sanderson, Bruce McCraw, Ross Jack, Gary Watt, Steve Mitchell, Dean Bowern and managed by Mike Noble.

CJT contribute to and support CLAN (disabled supporters) and funds will be used to the benefit of all ICT fans.

Everyone is giving freely of their time to support the event. The club, including chairman Kenny Cameron, have opened up the venue, provided assistance and staff have volunteered to come into work.

Even the fans’ pre-match training session at Millburn Academy on Thursday is being helped by the club, with goalkeeper Ryan Esson attending to pass on advice.

The fans’ side is sponsored by The Castle Tavern, and there will be a trophy up for grabs. It’s a fun day out, but these guys are all competitive.

The fans have all paid for the privilege of playing against their heroes and will be captained by Highland March supremo Rob Wilson.

All spectators will enter through the away players door through to the sports bar and into the main stand.

The sports bar will be open throughout the day and pies and soft drinks will also be available

The fans’ squad includes Rob Wilson and Davie Balfour, of Caley Jags Together, and fans from Aberdeen and further afield.

This is the first time this challenge match has happened, and and it’s hoped that as many fans as possible come along to make sure it happens again.
