A MAN tried to kick his way into a property in Rosehaugh Road while in possession of a baseball bat Inverness Sheriff Court heard on Thursday.

Alexander Mackenzie was appearing for sentence having previously admitted on August 10 behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in Rosehaugh Road, uttering threats of violence and repeatedly kicking the door of a property there in an attempt to gain access.

He also admitted possession of an offensive - a baseball bat and resisting arrest by struggling with two police officers.

Sheriff Ian Abercrombie told Mackenzie (31) of Bridgeview Drive the last time he was before the court he was jailed for nine months.

The Sheriff said he had considered sending him to prison again but having read background reports was persuaded against that.

He ordered Mackenzie to carry out 300 hours of community service, to undertake counselling for his alcohol consumption and placed a six months curfew between the hours of 7pm to 6am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during which he must remain at home.
