A SONG about Inverness that earned 53,000 internet hits last year got a packed Belladrum tent singing along on Saturday afternoon.

The man behind Invershneckie It’s The F***een Business popped up all the way from Denmark halfway through Stetsonhead’s Grassroots set to sing and rap live.

Later Steve explained that it had been a performance of the band’s own song America that had inspired him to write his version.

Steve said: “Stetsonhead are my favourite band and I was listening to them one night singing it. I was joking they were attacking America in American accents, they should do an Inverness version. And I ended up writing some words on a bar tab.”

The song pokes fun at all things Inverness – including the accent.

Steve recorded his version and put it up on the net late one night.

“By the morning it had gone from a few hits, to 1,500, then 5000 and eventually about 53,000.”

Now living in Denmark, Steve fronts a 15-piece Afrobeat band in Copenhagen called Who Are You People?.

”This is my first time at Belladrum - and it would be great to bring the Afrobeat band over to play here sometime!"
