FOOTAGE of a thief snatching a charity bucket from an ice cream parlour in Inverness has been viewed more than 133,000 times.

Donations meant for MFR’s Cash For Kids Appeal were stolen from the counter at Miele’s Gelateria in Church Street at around 9.30pm on Saturday.

The Miele family, who own the business, put the CCTV footage online to see if anyone recognised the thief.

It has been shared more than 3500 times and shows the thief receiving an ice cream for free after his card got declined and then returning to the premises minutes later to nab the charity bucket.

Michael (24) and David Miele (28), the brothers who front the family business, were disgusted that someone could stoop so low.

“It is horrendous that someone would do this to a charity but it is worse that it happened to a kids’ charity,” Michael Miele said.

The brothers will be replacing the lost donations with their own cash but they have also been blown away by members of the public getting in touch to donate.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
