Liam Colgan went missing on his brother's stag night in Hamburg.

POSSIBLE sightings of an Inverness postman missing in Hamburg have yet to shed any light on his whereabouts.

Liam Colgan (29), a former pupil of Inverness Royal Academy, was on his brother’s stag weekend in Germany when he disappeared in the early hours of Saturday.

His friends and family only realised something was wrong when he failed to appear for Saturday’s planned activities.

After retracing their steps in the Reeperbahn area of the city the group were told by a barmaid at the Hamborger Veermaster Bar that Mr Colgan left at around 1.30am on Saturday – shortly before the rest of the group.

Eamonn Colgan is due to be married in three weeks. His stag trip was organised by Liam.

Alan Pearson, one of Eamonn’s best friends, was also on the trip but has since returned to Scotland with others from the party to help raise publicity and allow Mr Colgan’s family to focus on finding Liam. Several of his family have travelled to Germany to aid in the search.

"We have had a few possible sightings but they have all come to nothing so far when we have followed them up," Mr Pearson said.

On Saturday the group checked with hospitals and reported Mr Colgan missing. They spent the day checking the local area and speaking to people in bars in an attempt to find him. They also put out posters and started a Facebook campaign to raise awareness which has already been shared more than 3000 times.

Mr Pearson described Friday night and early Saturday morning as "cold but not wild".

"I would speculate that it was -2 on Saturday night and it did snow on Saturday," he said.

"I cannot speak for how the family feel but I can imagine that they are not in a good place. They are doing all they can to try and locate him.

"They are doing amazingly well for Liam."

He described Liam as "one of the shyer ones in the group" but a "really nice guy".

"He organised everything for the stag do and had done a really great job," Mr Pearson said. "Everyone was going round saying that to him and we have looked at pictures of him on the night and he looks happy."

Liam Colgan is a former member of the Inverness band Old Old Wooden Ship and frequently played in venues across the city. Most recently he has performed as a solo act.
