Army radio set for Inverness and Fort George

ARMY radio is set to be launched in Inverness and at Fort George.

Garrison FM will be switching on its new transmitters on Thursday, with special broadcasts from the Fort George army base near Ardersier between 11am and 12noon, and at the army community in Wimberely Way, Inverness, between 1pm and 2pm.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle football boss Terry Butcher will join members of 3SCOTS for the switching on of the Fort George transmitter while Provost Jimmy Gray will join army personnel and their families to cut the ribbon at the launch at Wimberely Way.

Garrison FM is the Army’s radio station in the UK and broadcasts music and chat with an emphasis on bringing Army News to soldiers, their families and the wider army and civilian communities.

Former Radio One DJ, "Me" Mark Page who founded Garrison FM, will host the special programmes from the north, along with regular Breakfast presenter Mark McKenzie. The shows will also be broadcast on the Garrison FM network of stations throughout the UK.
