INVERGORDON have been crowned North Caledonian League champions in their final game of the season as they defeated Inverness Athletic 2-0.

It is the seventh time Invergordon have won the title as they scored both goals in the first half to move seven points clear of nearest challengers Loch Ness, who can no longer catch them with their two games remaining.

The match was switched from Inverness to Dalmore Park in Alness and Invergordon wasted no time as they broke the deadlock after two minutes through Ryan McFee.

They doubled their advantage in the 31st minute through Jordan Knight and maintained their two-goal advantage for the remainder of the game.

Invergordon finished the season on 57 points, with 18 wins, three draws and only one defeat in the league.

Earlier in the season Invergordon won the Football Times Cup as they beat Inverness Athletic 3-2 in the final.

They will hope to claim a hat-trick of titles this season as they are also through to the semi finals of the North Caledonian Cup.

In the other North Caledonian League matches, St Duthus defeated Fort William 1-0 at Claggan Park with John Maclellan scoring the winner after 13 minutes.

Halkirk United thrashed Clachnacuddin A 4-0. The matches between Thurso and Loch Ness along with Golspie Sutherland v Orkney were cancelled due to high winds.
