TWENTY Highland Car club crews will be heading to Jedburgh this weekend for the second round of the Hankook MSA Scottish Rally Championship, the Brick and Steel Border Counties Rally.

The rally, which runs on Saturday, has attracted another bumper entry of 110 crews.

The first car will be flagged off at 8.30 with the crews heading to the Kielder and Wauchope forest complexes consisting off five stages, with the first car due to finish around 1.45pm.

Oban's Shaun Sinclair, with Chris Hamill, will compete in their Mitsubishi EVO9, while Andy Horne from will take to the course in his DAM 4100 Gti fresh from his sixth spot finish in the Snowman Rally.

Having replaced the V8 engine with a V6 just prior to the event, Horne is hoping the Snowman result signals the start of a more reliable phase for his ever-popular Metro 6R4-Based machine.

Alness driver David Wilson will be starting at in his Mitsubishi EVO9, while John Morrison (Conon Bridge) and Donnie Macdonald (Inverness) hope to get up to pace after the severe icy conditions on the Snowman.

Morrison will be co-driven by Peter Carstairs and Macdonald will have local co-driver Ian Macivor. Both run Mitsubishi EVO 9s, seeded at 16 and 17.

Invergordon's Tommy Mackay, co-driven by Eileen Maclennan from Dingwall, will start in their EVO 3.

Stornoway crew Donald and Ruth Campbell will have travelled some distance to show form in their Subaru Impreza.

Muir of Ord crew Scott Grant and Lewis Rochford will compete in their Fiesta ST in class seven, while, after coming second in his class on a very icy Snowman, Mike Rae will be hoping to improve on the dry in his MG ZR.

After winning an award on her very first rally, in the Snowman, Kirsty Jarret from Dingwall in her Honda Civic will be co-driven by Susan Shanks (Elgin), wife of Neil Shanks, who will be sitting with up-and-coming star Alick Kerr at the other end of the field.
