ERIC Odhiambo took just two minutes to help fire Caley Thistle to three valuable points against Airdrie United on Saturday.

The striker, back from months on the sidelines with a broken foot, stepped off the bench in the second half and hit a wonder volley to seal a 2-0 home win against the Diamonds in Saturday's Irn Bru Division One match.

It was just the impact Terry Butcher was looking for as his side needed a second goal to kill off the visitors.

The victory means ICT are burying their horror home run, having won two and drawn one of their last three league games in Inverness.

A disappointing first half looked like fizzling out until Caley Thistle sparked into life just before the interval.

Dougie Imrie fed a terrific through ball to Spaniard Dani Sanchez and the forward's angled shot had just enough pace to beat keeper Stephen Robertson.

Former Dundee United and Leicester City ace Odhiambo replaced Sanchez on 67 minutes and hit a crisp left foot volley moments later to give Caley Thistle a winning response to their derby defeat at Ross County seven days before.

All attention for ICT now turns towards Sunday's Alba Challenge Cup Final against Dundee, who drew 0-0 in their home league meeting with fellow leaders Queen of the South at the weekend.

Inverness CT: Esson, Tokely, Bulvitis, Munro, Golabek, Proctor, Duncan, Imrie (Hayes), Sanchez (Odhiambo), Foran (Cox), Rooney.

Airdrie United: Robertson, McCann, Donnelly, Nixon(Keegan), Storey, Trouten (Smith), McDonald, McLaughlin, Waddell (Lagana), Baird, O'Carroll.

Referee: Craig MacKay.
