“In booking the Waterboys, we wanted to have an iconic band close to many people’s hearts in the Highlands to run alongside the hugely popular Radio 1 & 2 favourites Scouting For Girls who have come so far in the year since they last played the festival,” said festival director Joe Gibbs. Also playing the festival are Scots indie favourites Idlewild who headline the Hothouse stage on the Friday and heritage psychedelic rockers Jefferson Starship who make their Scottish Festival debut. Starship still features original band members Paul Kanter, who founded the band in 1970 out of San Francisco group Jefferson Airplane, and David Feiberg who originated Quicksilver Messenger Service.
The line-up further features: French new wave lounge music exponents Nouvelle Vague; two Scots with successful solo careers – ex Del Amitri founder Justin Currie and former Orange Juice band member Edwyn Collins who is making a welcome return to the live scene following his widely-publicised illness; Folk artists Rachel Unthank & the Winterset, who won the Horizon Award at the 2008 BBC Folk Awards, Kathryn Williams and Mojo Folk Album of the Year 07 winner Lisa Knapp. |
