I HAVE been requested by the BBC to carry out research on Kessock Ferry and Kessock Bridge archive material for an interactive history website for children.

This website is part of a countrywide initiative to encourage children to study their local history. There are only two places involved in Scotland and I'm delighted to say that Inverness is one of them. I wonder if it would it be possible to appeal to your readers for copies of photographs, texts, video clips or any human interest stories relating to the Kessock Ferry and Kessock Bridge. I am particularly looking for original photographs of the men who constructed the bridge, the bridge during construction, the ferry throughout the years and both the bridge and the ferry in the same picture. A film crew will be coming to the city to film these items in the near future. As with all these things, I am on a tight deadline and therefore if anyone can help an early reply would be appreciated. In the first instance if people could call 0792 202 3024 and leave a message I will return their call. Pat Thornton |
