ROSS County and Caley Thistle remain in the European chase in the SPL, but had to settle for a share of the spoils in Saturday's 0-0 draw in Dingwall.

The Staggies were without number one keeper Mark Brown, who injured his hand in training on Thursday. Another former ICT player, Michael Fraser, took his place in the nets.

For the visitors, Gary Warren and Richie Foran came into the team, replacing Danny Devine and Nick Ross.

There was a minute's applause ahead of this rearranged league fixture in respect of former director and Ross County stalwart David MacKay who passed away last week.

The first chance fell to ICT when Foran crossed from the left and it just missed the boot of the in-rushing Billy McKay.

There was plenty of endeavour from both teams, but opportunities were few and far between in the first half.

On 24 minutes, the ball broke to County defender Evangelos Oikonomou in the box, but his drive after being set up by Ivan Sproule was deflected wide for a corner.

At the other end, Ross Draper thought he had scored when he met Graeme Shinnie's corner, but Rocco Quinn was on hand to clear it off the line.

There was a flare up on 31 minutes after David Raven reacted with fury to a strong challenge from Iain Vigurs.

The anger spilled over to the touchline with Inverness CT manager Terry Butcher and County boss Derek Adams involved in a heated exchange.

Eight minutes into the second half, Mihael Kovacevic latched on to a pass from Paul Lawson and sent a rising shot just past the top left-hand corner of the net.

County captain Brittain sent a free-kick high over the crossbar after he was brought to ground by Owain Tudur Jones.

Kovacevic had another crack at goal from long range on 72 minutes for the hosts but he sent his past the right post this time, although Ryan Esson had it covered.

Graeme Shinnie was booked on 79 minutes for making the best of a challenge in the box by Oikonomou as the visitors appealed in vain for a spot kick.
