Police day of action to nab speeders

Police will target speeding and dangerous drivers

SPEEDING drivers across the Highlands will be targeted by a day of police action tomorrow.

Northern Constabulary officers from across the region will clamp down on drivers who they say risk their own lives and those of others by breaking the speed limit or driving inappropriately.

Head of Road Policing Inspector Derek Paterson said: "Speeding is one of the main casual factors in road traffic collisions across the Highlands and Islands.

"Those who exceed the speed limit and those who drive at inappropriate speeds for the prevailing circumstances not only risk their own lives but they risk the safety of other road users and that includes pedestrians and cyclists who can be particularly vulnerable."

The day is part of the force's drive to improve the safety of roads in the Highlands.
