THE Inshes slip-road re-opened yesterday afternoon— almost two weeks later than anticipated.
The major commuter road had been closed since January 8th for the final phase of upgrade work, which was required to be carried out by Asda as part of its planning conditions for its new store at Slackbuie.
During the road closure, southbound traffic was diverted to the Milton of Leys junction where motorists were directed down the old A9 past the Drumossie hotel to the B9006 Inverness - Culloden Road.
A spokeswoman for Asda blamed a spell of wet weather which coincided with laying markings on the road for the delay. Then, an inspection last Friday, identified “remedial issues” which needed to be addressed.
This included work to ensure the appropriate lighting of statutory speed limit signs and extending the anti-skid surface.
She added: "We are pleased to inform the local community that the A9/B9006 slip road has been re-opened. We would like to thank all road users for their patience while the works have been taking place."
Work to widen the slip-road has been on-going since October.
