AN Inverness woman has been named as the driver who was killed in a crash on the A82 on Loch Ness-side at Abriachan on Sunday.
Claire Macdonald (35) was fatally injured in the collision in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Next of kin have been informed and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Emergency services were alerted at about 1.39am following a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A82 Inverness to Fort William road at Abriachan.
The collision involved a silver Renault Megane motor car and a black Renault Clio motor car, which Claire Macdonald was driving.
A passenger in the Renault Clio also sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The driver of the Renault Megane was uninjured as a result of the collision.
The road remained closed for seven hours while enquiries were carried out by officers from Northern Constabulary Road Policing Unit.
