THOUSANDS of people gathered at the Northern Meeting Park in Inverness for Hogmanay celebrations on Saturday night at the Red Hot Highland Fling.
The big countdown to 2012 which was hosted by comedian Craig Hill, was largely enjoyed by families and children who braved the cold winter night to be part of the event.
And this year revellers were asked to send messages or New Year’s resolutions via text/picture message or social media site Twitter, which were then displayed on big screens at the show and some were read out by the comedian as part of his performance.
Starring bands Wolfstone and special guests Skerryvore, Bags of Rock and Hoodja, the park was filled and crowds were letting their hair down and enjoying the music during the course of the night.
It was one of only three Hogmanay shows being staged in Scotland, following Glasgow’s decision not to host an event this year.
Admission to the Inverness Common Good Fund sponsored event was free.
