Kittens Meghan and Harry are looking for a new home.

TWO kittens in Inverness which need a new home have been bestowed with some very regal names to honour the royal engagement.

Eight-week-old Harry and Meghan are now being cared for by the Inshes branch of the Scottish SPCA.

The duo were named after Prince Harry and his American fiancee Meghan Markle who announced on Monday that they plan to tie the knot in May.

The cats ended up at the centre through no fault of their own and will soon be looking for a permanent home.

Sharon Comrie, Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre superintendent, said: "Meghan and Harry are currently being looked after at our centre in Inverness.

"These two adorable characters will be looking for a new home once they’ve been given the all clear by our vets and received the appropriate vaccinations. We were all delighted to hear about Prince Harry and Meghan’s engagement, and we know they’re both great lovers of animals so we couldn’t help but share our little royal couple too."

Prince Harry proposed to the Suits actress at his home in London and the wedding will take place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, after the Queen granted permission,

The Royal Family will foot the bill for the nuptials and speaking after the engagement was announced, Prince Harry’s dad The Prince of Wales and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall said: "We’re thrilled. We’re both thrilled. We hope they’ll be very happy indeed."

Prince Harry’s brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, also released a statement: "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."
