RICHARD Smith has tendered his resignation from the Caley Thistle board of directors.
The Inverness businessman, managing director at chartered surveyors Allied Souter & Jaffrey, declared his intention to step down from his position during the week.
Smith resigned from his position prior to the game with Motherwell but kept it under wraps until after the final whistle.
He was invited on to the club’s board in January 2012 as part of the Muirfield Mills consortium, a group of expatriate Inverness businessmen who took a £250,000 stakeholding in Caley Thistle.
The club have yet to confirm anything publicly but it has been confirmed by numerous club sources that Smith has indeed resigned.
Smith’s resignation leaves seven directors on the Caley Thistle board, headed by chairman Kenny Cameron.The news comes with Caley Thistle five points adrift at the foot of the Premiership table, with just five games remaining to preserve their seven-year top-flight status.
